This shoot was an unexpected one to say the least!
I flew out to Utah with a friend for the weekend to create more content for my site, and this was one of the shoots we had planned. Initially, I was going to partner with a local model for this shoot, but she ended up testing positive for Covid-19 two days before we were supposed to work together (she thankfully didn’t have symptoms, but still had to quarantine). That devastated me, and I seriously considered scrapping the idea all together, even though I had the outfit purchased already.
Then I decided to model for the shoot myself!
I was really scared that I would be disappointed with the outcome. I worried I wouldn’t bring the vision to life like I wanted. However, life is about pushing yourself out of your comfort zone! When you do, the most special things can happen.
My friend and I drove out to Little Sahara, and I gave her a crash course in photography.
I adjusted the settings, and helped her set up the framing for the shots that I wanted. We breezed through my list of poses, then I edited it all. I could not be more pleased with how it turned out! I was so proud of myself for being brave enough to go for it. Creative self portrait sessions like this are how I got interested in photography in the first place, and every time I put together a shoot where I’m playing the role of director, model, stylist, and photographer, it fuels my love for the art of creating even more.
